What We Do
We are dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Below are examples of activities listed in our three main areas of projects.
Promoting Patriotism
- Support of the local Veterans Transition Center
- Support Wreaths Across America and participation in wreath-laying ceremony
- Observe Veterans Day and participate in Veterans Day Parade
- Participate in naturalization and U.S. flag retirement ceremonies
- Participate in the Anniversary of the Battle at (name of event)
- Provide blankets, toiletries, reading material to the Veterans Center (or USO, etc.)

Historic Preservation
- Mark graves of local American Revolutionary War Patriots
- Support the National Society for the Preservation of NSDAR buildings
- Participate in local historic programs, tours, and events

Education
- Present Constitution Week programs in elementary schools with members dressed in colonial costumes
- Participate in Bells Across America on September 17 to honor the signing of the U. S. Constitution
- Sponsor American History Essay Contests for students in fifth to eighth grades
- Sponsor Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Awards to cadets in high schools
- Sponsor DAR Good Citizens Essays for high school seniors
- Support Crossnore Communities for Children
- Participate in the American History Book Club for chapter members
